The Emerald is a light to dark green mineral. It's commonly accepted as the May birthstone. Emeralds have a deep history and can be traced as far back as the ancient Egyptians. Emeralds were worn by kings, and other people of stature. Remnants of large mines were found in the southern parts of Egypt around the Red Sea. Another historical use for Emeralds was in the Holy Grail. Embedded in this cup is a series of Emeralds. The Holy Grail is commonly thought to have been present at the last supper; over 2000 years ago.
